All about androgenic alopecia

Androgenic alopecia also known as androgenetic alopecia is a condition which is usually responsible for hair loss, both in men and women. This medical condition affects orangutans and chimpanzees as well. Androgenic alopecia is colloquially known as the male pattern baldness because it has been seen that this condition follows a particular pattern.

With male pattern baldness, people start to lose hair from just above their temples first. The hair on the crown of your head will also start thinning out. With all the hair loss, rims of hair are left only at the back of the head and behind the ears. Another reason for calling this condition male pattern baldness is because women rarely exhibit this pattern of hair loss. Women usually start losing hair all over their head and their hairline does not recede usually.

Coming to the reasons behind androgenic alopecia, according to studies certain genetic factors are responsible for this pattern. Recent studies have shown that some environmental factors are also responsible for androgenic alopecia.
