Nicotine, the active ingredient in cigarettes makes the entire circulatory system of the body sluggish. Although such disorders are not life threatening as a heart and lung infection, but they can increase the risk of more serious ailments and disorders and can have can have unwanted effects on you skin.
The blood can absorb carbon monoxide 200 times faster than oxygen. A lot of oxygen is displaced by carbon monoxide slowly poisoning the skin and the organs and starving them of the life giving oxygen. This deadly toxic is followed by a cocktail of chemical and gas in the form of nicotine, ammonia, hydrogen, butane, arsenic and cadmium etc. and list is still incomplete.
The skin, of smokers, when exposed to the sun gets damaged two to three times faster than that of a non smoker. The damage is intense and visible in two-three months. This increases the probability of most common type of cancer - cell carcinoma.
