HormoneThe human body is home to an intricate system of glands that regulate bodily functions.

These are known as glands and their basic function is to supply the various natural hormones that support the bodily functions.

The natural hormones in the human body and their role in supporting bodily functions is as follows:

The pituary gland

This gland regulates the growth and metabolism of the human body.

The pancreas

The pancreas produces insulin that helps regulate the sugar level in the body.

The adrenal glands

These regulate the male and female hormones. In the males it is testosterone while in the females it is estrogen. These are produced by the testes in males and ovaries in the females.

Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy or BHRT

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is the process that uses naturally occurring compounds or plant compounds that mimic the role of the original hormones present in the human body. This therapy is generally used by women who are suffering from menopause to get rid of the side effects like hot flashes, sweating, mood swings etc.

Hormone replacement therapy HRT

This is a medical procedure that makes used of the combined effect of estrogen and progestin to bring back to normalcy the pre-menopausal levels of estrogen. This therapy is useful as it help to lessen the bouts of hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings and sleep disturbances that are caused due to low levels of estrogen.

The requirement of such therapies is more prevalent with females due to various reasons. Every woman must have access to hormone replacement therapy techniques based on their individual and personal situations. Women experience menopause differently at different stages with a varying degree of visible or invisible symptoms. Some women also experience menopause with extra difficulty but without any increased risk of osteoporosis or heart disorders. While for few others, menopause is traumatic and can result in increased chances of illness. Hormone replacement therapies are a boon for all such women.
